Location:
The residence is located in the Lomas de Cumbayá Urbanization, Cumbayá - Ecuador, in a 2,500 m2 lot, the Implantation of the residence hasbeen conceived as a continuous environment, without barriers and open to thepublic space. In the same way, the proposal is set back, generating a largegreen area as a contribution to the environment.
Architecture:
The extension of the two front volumes towards their ends sensuallygenerates a welcoming embrace to visitors due to their spatial configuration, and at their meeting point (pivot) is where the main entrance to the residencetakes place. The implementation of the proposal divides the outdoor area intotwo clearly differentiated uses: one open - continuous that highlights thearchitecture from the public and the other closed - private, where the dailylife of its owners takes place. One of the main challenges was to respect theexisting vegetation on the land.
Program:
The house is divided into three levels: a sub-floor where the gym, parking lots, warehouses and service housing are located, operatingindependently. The main floor where the majority of the program takes place anda top floor where a private study is located.
The main floor consists of four large spaces: at the first end (moreprivate) the master bedroom, connected through a gallery for works of art tothe living room - dining room, next to which we can find the kitchen area andaccessories and opposite to this, a playful and television space. Attached tothe room is the vertical circulation axis through an elevator. In the case ofthe second floor, the elevator connects to the study through a glass bridge. The basement is connected to the ground floor through a large perforation atrium that allows natural lighting to enter the parking lots and specificallyto a living room. This drilling has allowed the incorporation of trees that runthrough the different levels of the house.
Outside there is a play area. Here is located the pool, green area, sauna - Turkish and barbecue area.
Interior architecture:
Inside, the relation of openings and full spaces and the game of doubleand triple heights enrich the spaces and give them added value, reflecting thatthe space is not only a built surface, but that the project is understood andperceived in volume.
There is a game with the different spaces contained. On the one hand, private spaces work on a more human scale emphasizing the senses, with openingsand dimensional. On the other hand, the social spaces are configured with ahigher scale, emphasizing the double and triple heights, visual leaks andinterior vegetation of the project. The selected furniture was meticulouslystudied since it had to be in harmony and contribute to the speciality, scaleand visual relationships of the spaces. As well as the lighting design, integrated audio and security systems, among others.
Conclusions and Results:
The intention of the Project was always to make a unique proposal, witha strong identity, and with its own design stamp. Volumetric dynamism, spatialtensions; fluid, dynamic spaces with a high level of sensations andperceptions; vegetation, harmony, where light becomes its main material and itis about endowing the space with strong phenomenological characteristics, usingthe natural environment, space and thus raising architecture to the level ofthought.
