Organized by the Asia- Pacific Federation of designers (IAI),IAI AWARDS 2012 aims to build the highest award of interior designs in Asia Pacific region, the Panel of Judges are all designers of authority from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States . In 2012, the competition settled in the Dongguan, and on July 7th , "IAI AWARDS 2012 Dongguan Division Design Elites Invitational Tournament" started ceremoniously. After three months works collection, on October 12th, Panel of Judges held successfully in Shenghe square Mingdaotang hall.

Invitational Tournament invited Luo Simin, vice chairman of the Guangdong Environmental Art Design Industry Association, and Li ZhiWei Art Department director of Guangzhou University Fine Arts and Design Institute to hold the post of judges, and the chairman of Asia Pacific Federation of designers Brian He to supervise. In addition, in order to guarantee the fairness during examination, panel of judges have also invited jury guests (from the Dongguan excellent designers), the designers, representatives of the building materials business, and media to live supervise.

The competition had received more than 350 works from the Dongguan designers , involving club space, catering space, display space, hotel space, office space, cultural entertainment space, commercial space and Home outfit space, etc. The judges will be from five aspects including the original, functional, atmosphere aesthetics, environmental protection and energy saving, space planning as the standards of works, each aspects of 20 points.

As we have learned, the Dongguan division outstanding works will be submitted to the IAI AWARDS 2012. "The Dongguan division were set 35 awards, but not every award will must have winner work, we insist on putting quality before quantity.If without good works, we would empty the award out." The director of the competition committee Li Zhou said. More than 350 works went through three rounds of review for a day, panel of judges chose a total of 60 works to became finalists, the winners will be announced on the award ceremony on October 29th, 2012.

The judges Luo Simin said, this is the first time that the IAI Award setting during Dongguan division, and the 350 pieces of work are valuable. The level is uneven, but this is a very good beginning.

Jury guest Deng Zhiqin said that through this kind of contest, Dongguan designers’ sense of participation, their consciousness of communication and initiative will be improved. They can show themself through the international platform, and find out their deficiency so as to catch up with the international level, and avoid burying their talent.
