On March 28, 2026, the IAI Global Design Award | Asia-Pacific Designer Alliance Beijing Creative Practice Base Inauguration Ceremony and the 20th Anniversary International Prelude · Beijing Debut Exhibition Opening Ceremony were successfully held at the Jijiamiao Innovation and Entrepreneurship Industrial Park in Fengtai District, Beijing. Distinguished guests attended the event, including Ms. Deng Jie, Chairwoman of the American GlowStar Art Foundation; Mr. Tang Xijing, General Manager of Jijiamiao Innovation and Entrepreneurship Industrial Park; Professor Shi Minfeng, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Design at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication; Mr. Zhang Hai, Executive Director of the IAI International Image Creative Center; and Mr. Wang Xiaogen, Founder of Beijing Genshang Design Co., Ltd. and a multiple-time winner of the IAI Awards over the years.In addition, a number of distinguished IAI award-winning representatives attended the event in person, covering diverse fields such as industrial design, engineering design, and artistic design. They are:Ms. Yu Hong, Head of Industrial Design at LOCKIN Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., who won the Best Design Award for the electronic lock Lockin AI Smart Lock V7 Max;Mr. Feng Heng, Chief Engineer of Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group, who received the Gold Award for his work Coconut Treasure Landscape Transmission Tower for Hainan 500kV Main Grid Project;and Ms. Ines Consuela Essen, an award-winning German designer and faculty member of the School of Design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, who was invited to exhibit her ceramic innovation Gold Award work New Forms, New Consciousness.All three award-winning representatives gave exclusive interviews on site, sharing their creative concepts and design insights.

As the opening chapter of IAI’s 20th-anniversary series of major events, the ceremony was conducted with solemnity and precision. The unveiling of the plaque, completed by IAI core guests and representatives from various sectors, officially marked the establishment of the IAI Beijing Creative Practice Base in the capital. Oskar Ho, founder of the IAI Design Award, Chairman of the Board, and President of the Asia-Pacific Designer Alliance, delivered a speech on-site, elaborating on the strategic significance of the base. He emphasized that the Beijing base is a key node in IAI’s global layout, dedicated to empowering local designers, bridging the gap between creativity and industrial implementation, and fostering high-quality development in China’s design industry. Ms. Deng Jie, representing GlowStar, and Mr. Tang Xijing, representing the industrial park, delivered speeches pledging comprehensive support for the base and committing to building a win-win design ecosystem together. Academic, international exchange, and industry guests also expressed their aspirations for deep collaboration.

During the event, IAI officially announced the base’s annual strategy and the award winners’ incubation program, detailing the "One Core, Two Wings" layout focused on talent cultivation, industrializing creative works, and building a full-chain ecosystem. The debut exhibition, held concurrently to celebrate the 20th anniversary, showcased 40 globally awarded masterpieces spanning diverse design fields. Three distinguished award winners attended in person and participated in exclusive interviews: Yu Hong, Head of Industrial Design at Loock Technology, presented the Lockin AI Smart Lock V7 Max (Best Design Award); Feng Heng, Chief Engineer of Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute, showcased the "Hainan 500 kV Main Grid Project Coconut Treasure Landscape Transmission Tower" (Gold Award); and Ines Consuela Essen, a German award-winning designer and faculty member at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, presented her Gold Award-winning ceramic innovation piece "New Form, New Consciousness." They shared their creative philosophies and design insights, demonstrating world-class design excellence.

Moving forward, the IAI Beijing Creative Practice Base will take root in Fengtai, serving as a creative ecosystem hub integrating international exchange, talent incubation, project implementation, and brand empowerment. With Beijing as its epicenter, the base aims to radiate its influence nationwide, gathering China’s new design forces to add brilliance to IAI’s 20th anniversary and propel Chinese design onto the global stage.
