Nowadays the world is extremely globalized. Cities are expanding fastly, and structures become oversized for humans, especially the public ones. This fact creates difficulties for the circulation of people inside the buildings. This is why people need alternative means of transport, because they are not able to move by walk. In addition to this, the increase of average age of population is not to be underestimated.Physical distances between people no longer coincide with the relationship between people.
Human relations are based almost exclusively on virtual contacts. So often we feel closer to a person who is geographically distant from us, rather than we feel close to the person who is physically located next to us. The phenomenon of 'virtualization' of our lives, it is also the cause of a marked thinning of the private sphere. As the relationships between people, also the relationship between person and space is evolving.
"ILY_I" / "I" di Aisin / "I" like me。
ILY_I is an Interactive armchair powered by a rechargeable battery. It is able to move in different directions, with a full rotation of 360 °, and it is driven by the person who sit on it, with a command placed on the arm of the chair. Its simple form seems to be lifted from the ground, as if it were a sphere suspended in the air. At the same time, however, ILY_I has a shape that embraces and accommodates the user, having an organic and ergonomic form. The round base creates a clean movement on itself, without any geometry outside the radius of rotation. The geometric form of the base becomes an organic form in the upper part, in a continuous way, giving the idea of a single volume. The resulting feeling is to interact with a living creature which we are familiar with.We use to live everyday with Information Technologies, so basically we interact everyday with robots.
However, the interaction with a humanoid robot undoubtedly gives the person a feeling of discomfort. On the contrary, technologies should be helpful, or something relaxing, rather than being annoying. This is why we want to focus on familiarity that we all have with a piece of furniture. We insert robotics in an armchair, so that is very easy to live with it. In this way we can create a new lifestyle.
ILY_I has in the front part, on both sides, two sensors with a rounded shape that give the idea of two eyes that look at you. They give the product an image of a living creature. But in this case the feeling that gives us is positive. The object results nice, something you want to carry around with you, and with whom you want to be together. When the chair comes close to an obstacle or a person on its way, the sensors react causing the enlightenment of the chair from inside. Something like a way of communication to interact with space and people around. So ILY_I is a piece of furniture which is very close to the people; an intelligent product that takes care of us, and improve people life.
This first basic model of ILY_I armchair can be subsequently developed, becoming multitasking. It can be equipped with a camera, with vocal and visual communication system, and it can also become a cleaning tool for the house, which interacts directly with humans, and it will get a place in the family.
