Pierre Yovanovitch Modern Chalet in the Swiss Alps
Pierre Yovanovitch Modern Chalet in the Swiss Alps
The French top interior designer and architect, Pierre Yovanovitch reinterpreted the typical interiors of a chalet in the mountains but added a contemporary twist. This house in the mountains was born from the process of humble sophistication and moderated luxury that beautifully outlines the beauty of the surrounding landscape. “I wanted to create an interesting, yet inviting, space without detracting from the stunning view of the surrounding Alps,” says Pierre Yovanovitch. “To do this, I incorporated design elements inspired by the region, such as the cantilevered staircase made of spruce and inspired by rural fences. I worked with specialty craftsman from throughout Europe to create custom furniture pieces which I mixed with vintage furniture and art, such as Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone’s stone sculpture.” The 550-square-meters house is divided into two areas: night and living area. On the lower level of this chalet, there is the kitchen, a fireplace area and a reception area with wide windows. On the upper level, there are the four bedrooms: the master bedroom, the kid’s bedroom, and two others for guests. The cozy wooden chalet has a warm and harmonious color palette accentuated by unique details and splendid exclusive designs by Pierre Yovanovitvh which highlight its personal style.
