Dazhou and Associates
NOYARD is a building renovation project in Haikou Gaoxingli, a commercial block in China. It has been transformed into a commercial complex, that houses ten trendy flagship stores, with a distinctive image and unconventional commercial operations, aiming to become a key venue in the neighborhood. The project has conducted a new type of practice in terms of the publicity and urbanism of commercial architecture. The first floor of the building is designed to be mostly open, forming spaces like colonnades, gardens and atriums, which brings convenience and shelter for passersby. The original fa?ade is wrapped with white perforated panels, by which means forms spaces in between the old and new for planting vegetation. The red staircase, faintly visible, serves as a thread connecting the interior and exterior spaces. In the heart of the building, there is an atrium filled with light. The ten shops are located around it on the upper floors, attracting people to explore upwards.
