Introduction:

The architectural proposal of the new ARGOS EAFIT CENTRO DEINNOVACION is the embodiment in a building. of the partnershipbetween industry and university. It becomes a ship, which houses aseries of sophisticated instruments, where a highly qualified humangroup uses these artifacts to trace a journey towards innovation.

The building

is a vessel anchored on the campus, a support point thatacts as a place for encounters and convergences between differentactors. This synergy makes ifts way by allowing the campus area toimbue with ' the Innovation Center program; by housing andprotecting within it the permanent and unsuspecting encounterbetweenthe university community.private enterprise, and thescientist and academic community. In this direction, a convergenceplace is createdwhereencounters materialize in friendlyatmospheres that allow environments that foster creativity.

The CENTRO ARGOS PARA LA INNOVACION locates within the EAFITuniversity campus on the edge of the river and the regional avenue. The Medellin River has been a silent witness to the birth of the city'scompanies. The EAFIT campus.located nearby since the 70s,' isclosely bonded to the river. However,

given the environmentalconditions generated.produced by the passage of the regionalavenue and the subway acting as an insulating barrier, the campushas separated itself from the city by creating its interior environment.A university park has been developed, which takes advantage ofeach of its interstices to implement friendly environments that isolatethemselves from the poor conditions of the context, enclosing itself. The building's setting opens up the university campus fo the city. ltcelebrates this idea, based on the strong presence of the ArgosCenter for Innovation, which proposes a direct relationship with anemblematic faqade composed of a load-

bearing concrete wall.Thiswall lines hundreds of prefabricated GRC cones. In addition tocontrolling temperature, luminosity. and views of the inside building.the cones allude to the eyes and viewers of the precision instrumentsused inside. The project proposes the improvement of the edge andthe entire urban profile along the river. The building is situated in themost extreme spot towards the west,to free the maximum spaceinside the university. This position fosters a friendlier and peacefulinterior environment with the building as a mediator between the cityand the campus.

The ground alters its slope starting from the new Junin pergola(central pedestrian axis of the campus) where a facade constructedof thousands of high-

resistance precast concreteelements isproposed, which plays with the speed of pedestrians to produce theillusion of a changing facade, in movement with direct reference tokineticism. The inferior facade is a large lattice that fiters the lightfrom the east and controls the heat levels inside.A slope forms a tree-lined courtyard garden, from which the work of the scientists whocary out their research inside the laboratories is visible.Above this, the first-

floor flows with different accesses at different levels extendingcampuS activify within the lnnovation Center.

This openness doesn't stop at the first floor, it extends throughout thedifferent levels of the building.through circulations around theperimeter of the workspaces and free areas that intersperse betweenthem. In this way, one not only observes what happens inside thelaboratories but also enjoys the atmospheres created by the gardensand the incidence of light on the facades. lna state ofindeterminacy between the oufside and the inside, when one isinside the building. one is in the space of the campus.

The building allows its use and enjoyment by the entire universitycommunity, creating meeting places where research intensifies in avisible and daily way.
